Induction solution replaced flame brazing
All EFD Induction customers are committed to quality—otherwise they wouldn’t choose us. But some customers are committed to technical excellence and precision in a way that’s truly inspiring. Like Austria’s Anton Paar, for example.
It was the great British scientist Lord Kelvin who wrote: "When you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meagre and unsatisfactory kind." Indeed, accurate measuring is a foundation of modern science. And few companies have contributed as much to this crucial discipline as Anton Paar, the Austrian-based maker of measuring and laboratory instruments for research and industry.
EFD Induction recently replaced a gas flame brazing system with an induction solution at Anton Paar’s production facility in Graz, Austria. The new system comprises an EFD Induction Sinac 18/25 Expanded. Matthias Gruber, EFD Induction‘s Manging Director in Austria, explains the difference between a standard Sinac 18/25 and its expanded version. “Put simply, the expanded model features an additional output compensation module. The expanded model is also equipped with a 400 kVA handheld transformer instead of the usual 240 kVA. This greatly expands the system’s matching range.”
The extended matching range was necessary because Anton Paar wanted a solution capable of brazing a wide range of components. “We also supplied Anton Paar with a selection of customized coils. Having such coils on hand gives great operational flexibility, especially since coil changeovers are so quick and easy,” comments Gruber. The induction solution has run successfully since installation, helping Anton Paar to cut brazing cycle times, further improve product quality, and enhance operator comfort. (Ed.
