Revolutionary high-uptime Weldac series launched

SKIEN, NORWAY. EFD Induction, Europe's No. 1 supplier of industrial heat solutions, launched early this year a patented solid-state concept that promises to significantly boost tube-welding output. Already customer benefits from the features introduced with the new EFD Weldac.

 

Thanks to a new method of deploying the very rugged IGBT transistors at the high frequencies needed in many welding applications, the uptime of EFD Induction's new Weldac G2 series is significantly increased compared with solid-state welders using today's predominant MOSFET technology.

 

As a result,Tube & Pipe manufacturers in the market to replace their vacuum-tube welders with solid-state systems have even more reasons to do so. And with its low investment and running cost, ease of use and remarkable uptime, the new Weldac gives them an even more compelling alternative to consider.

 

EFD Induction's new patent makes it possible to use fewer, cheaper and more rugged transistors, known as IGBTs, in Weldac's high-frequency power modules. This makes the entire system both less costly and more reliable.

 

The single cabinet Weldac G2 system consists of the frequency converter, a busbar and an external control system. The system can be delivered with four different output power levels: 150, 200, 250 or 300 kW with a frequency range of 200 to 350 kHz. The new Weldac G2 handles tube dimensions from OD 3/8" up to OD 5", all with a two-turn coil design.
