Oil and gas contractor Bonatti has selected an EFD Induction post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) solution to help build the world’s longest 13% Cr onshore pipeline.

 

The corrosion-resistant pipeline is part of the In Salah Southern Fields project (ISSF) in the Algerian Sahara desert.

Dr. Hansjürg Stiele and Stefan Schubotz of EFD Induction Germany have written a detailed study of the energy efficiency of induction surface hardening. The study, which is in German, is published in connection with Härterei Kongress (Heat Treatment Congress), held this October in Wiesbaden.

SKIEN, NORWAY-20/08/2012. Bjørn Røsvik has been appointed the Manager of the Standardized Systems and Direct Sales Division at EFD Induction Norway. This division deals primarily with Minac and Sinac induction heating systems; solutions that can be used for a wide spectrum of applications such as brazing, shrink fitting, straightening, pre and post heating, etc.

SKIEN, NORWAY-20/08/2012. Jan Arve Fuglaas of EFD Induction Norway has been given special responsibility for sales of tube and pipe welding and normalizing systems in Asia. Fuglaas will work closely with his colleagues from EFD Induction China to meet the continent’s burgeoning demand for high-uptime, high-output induction welders. Previously a project manager at EFD Induction Norway, Fuglaas has more than 20 years’ international experience devising pipe welding and annealing solutions.

The equipment is the first such EFD Induction units to enter service in the rapidly expanding Indian power generation services market.

Argentina-based automotive valve manufacturer Basso A.S. has ordered a vertical hardening system from EFD Induction. The system—designed to harden valve stem ends—is currently being constructed at EFD Induction’s facility in Freiburg, Germany.

ESAB orders EFD Induction system for T-beam welding machine
ESAB, the world-renowned welding and cutting specialist, has ordered an EFD Induction Minac 50/80 Twin for one of its ESAB IT-100 automatic T-beam welding machines. The machine, to be installed at a shipyard in the Ukraine, is a fully automated solution with a welding speed of more than 1m/min. The EFD Induction Minac will be used to provide in-line straightening of the welded beams.

EFD Induction lands brazing system order from ANDRITZ HYDRO
Austria-headquartered ANDRITZ HYDRO has ordered a Minac 25/40 Twin induction heating system from EFD Induction. The system will be used for copper brazing at ANDRITZ HYDRO’s facility in Weiz, Austria.

Repeat brazing equipment order from France’s Jeumont Electric
Jeumont Electric, the France-based specialist in power generation and conversion technologies, recently took delivery of an EFD Induction Minac 18/25 Twin induction heating system. The Minac is being employed to wind large two- and four- pole rotors. Two teams use the Minac to simultaneously braze conductors that are up to eight meters apart from one another.

EFD Induction contributes to new heat treatment book
Leading Swedish research institute Swerea IVF recently published “Stål och Värmebehandling” (“Steel and Heat Treatment”). A key writer on the project has been Kristian Berggren, managing director of EFD Induction in Sweden, who contributed to the 800-page book’s section on induction heating.

EFD Induction chosen for Eibach springs
SKIEN, NORWAY - 5/2/10. EFD Induction has been selected to provide a Sinac induction heater and coils for renowned suspension spring manufacturer Eibach. The Sinac has been bought by Schneider Maschinenbau of Lennestadt, Germany, who will incorporate it into an automated, high volume system for pre-heating stabilizer bar ends prior to forging.

Chicago area tube mills opt for EFD Induction
SKIEN, NORWAY - 5/2/10. EFD Induction recently delivered two of its Weldac 600 kW high frequency induction IGBT tube welders to Chicago area tube mills. Both systems replaced older vacuum tube technology in existing tube mills.

EFD Induction to Braze Danfoss Compressors
SKIEN, NORWAY—15/12/09—EFD Induction is delivering two induction brazing systems to Danfoss Compressors d.o.o in Slovenia. The systems, one single and one twin EFD Induction Sinac, will be used to braze capillary tubes in air and gas compressors for refrigeration equipment.

SKIEN, NORWAY—2/12/09—EFD Induction recently delivered one of its new generation Terac 25 induction straightening systems to Keppel AmFELS in Brownsville, Texas. The delivery makes Keppel AmFELS the first purchaser in the Americas of the new Terac 25 system.

Taifeng Steel chooses Weldac welder from EFD Induction
SKIEN, NORWAY—29/11/09—Major Chinese steelmaker Taifeng Steel has purchased a Weldac induction welder from EFD Induction. The system will be used to weld 219 x 10 tubes for the domestic and overseas automotive industry. The Weldac, which is to be installed at Taifeng Steel’s new mill in Xintai in the eastern province of Shandong, is the first to be assembled and tested at EFD Induction’s own Chinese facilities.

ArcelorMittal Fontaine chooses EFD Induction
SKIEN, NORWAY—20/11/09—Belgium-based steel wire specialists ArcelorMittal Fontaine have agreed to buy an EFD Induction Sinac induction generator for pre-heating steel strands. The Sinac is a low frequency 200 kW model.
