Induction plasma

 Induction heating for plasma

Plasma is ionized gas, meaning some or all of the electrons have been stripped from atoms or molecules and are free to move around. Induction heating produces plasma through a process called Inductively Coupled Plasma.

Induction plasma technology has had a significant impact on the optical fibre, ceramics and nanopowders industries. The technology is particularly effective at spheroidizing, densifying and purifying powders such as silica and tungsten carbide. These powders are employed by manufacturers in the electronics, biomedical and energy industries.

EFD Induction has long been at the forefront of efforts to harness the benefits of induction plasma production. Together with various partners, EFD Induction helped develop a unique silicon purification technology for upgrading Metallurgical Grade Silicon to Solar Grade quality (SoG-Si). And our Canada-based partner company Tekna Plasma Systems Inc. is a recognized leader at developing solutions for nanopowder synthesis, plasma spray coating and powder spheroidization.
